The basics
Operly is a workspace built around a team of AI team members. These answers cover your first session: where things are, what to connect and what to set up first.
Help / The basics
What is Operly?
Operly is a workspace where you give work to a team of AI team members. You talk to each one in their own thread, and they work with your email, calendar, tasks, files and Studio, then bring results back for you to review.
Your inbox, Schedule, Tasks, Files and Studio are in the same workspace, so the team works from your real information. Operly runs on the web, iPhone and Android. Read how it works for the short version.
Where do I find things in the app?
The left rail has three areas:
- Home: today's priorities, events, inbox, team activity and work that needs you.
- Your team: your team members. Choose a name to open their thread, or Hire someone to add one.
- Workspace: Email, Schedule, Studio, Files, Tasks, Integrations and Skills. Computer also appears here, on Pro and Business.
Account settings is the button at the bottom of the rail. It holds Profile, Billing, Usage and Help.
What should I do in my first session?
Aim for one working loop rather than a tour:
- Hire a team member and give them one real first job.
- In Integrations, connect the mailbox you use for work, and your calendar.
- On their Desk, add a routine such as a daily morning brief.
Then come back tomorrow and see what it produced. The step-by-step version is in Get started with Operly, and how to automate a morning briefing walks through the routine.
How do I set up my team the first time?
A new workspace starts with the team setup: you meet your team, choose names and faces, and add notes, then finish. On Business there is also a step to pick voices. If you already have a team, you start on Home.
To run the account setup again, open Account settings, Profile, then Replay Onboarding. It does not remove your settings, memories or connected accounts. To add someone later, choose Hire someone in the rail.
How do I connect my email and calendar?
Open Integrations in the Workspace rail.
- Gmail and Google Calendar: choose Connect Google Account and sign in with Google.
- Outlook: choose Connect Microsoft.
- Other mailboxes: choose Add Email Account for Yahoo, iCloud or any IMAP server.
Connect the calendar that lives with the same account so briefs can include your day. Connecting Gmail and Google Calendar covers what to expect.
What does the AI Features setting do?
AI Features is a switch in Settings, Data & Privacy. When it is off, Operly says chat, email management, document Q&A, insights, automations and image generation are disabled, and routines with AI steps can't be saved as Active. You can turn it back on at any time.
If something tells you AI Features are off, switch it on there and try again.
What is on the Home screen?
Home is a summary, not a chat. It shows:
- Work: active and recent jobs. Click one to open that team member's Desk.
- Today: priorities, calendar events and unread mail across connected accounts.
- The team: each person's role and status, with Open thread, Routines and Hire someone.
- The brief: a summary of your inbox, due work and recent conversations.
Use Refresh at the top to update the panels. To make a request, open a team member's thread.
How do I set my timezone and profile?
Open Account settings, then Profile. You can set your Timezone there along with the other profile fields. Set it first if you use routines: a new scheduled routine starts with your workspace timezone, and you can pick a different one for that routine.
If a scheduled routine says Timezone required, choose one in the routine's Timezone list before you save.
Can I bring my ChatGPT history into Operly?
Yes. Open Settings, Data & Privacy, and choose Start Migration Wizard. You get two options:
- Quick Import: paste your ChatGPT memories and custom instructions.
- Full Import: upload your ChatGPT export (.zip) or just the conversations.json file from it.
Uploads are limited to 100 MB. A big export with lots of media can go over, so unzip it and upload only conversations.json. If that file is still too large, use Quick Import.
Which plan do I need, and where do I see my usage?
Pro is $50 a month ($500 a year) with 3 seats. Business is $200 a month ($2,000 a year) with up to 20 seats, plus premium voice calls and five times the premium usage. The workspace computer, with Screen and takeover, is on both plans. See pricing for the full comparison.
In Account settings, Billing shows your plan and Usage shows how much of your monthly AI usage you have used. Frequent routines use more of it.
Where do I get help or report a problem?
Open Account settings, then Help, to browse and search help articles. At the bottom of that page, Submit Feedback or Report an Issue sends your report to the Operly team. You can also start with Get started with Operly.
